After living with my host family in Forest Hill for over a month, I felt very well adjusted to the area and know my way around the major parts of the city. They've been absolutely awesome and have made me feel at home. So thank you to Mick, Geri, Josh and Steph (who just returned from South America a few days ago). But RMIT is in the middle of the city and that means an hour and a half commute each way everyday, so I really needed a place closer to the city. I found a place in North Melbourne and I've been living here for almost a week.

My housemates are great. There are 6 of us living here in 5 rooms, I've got one roommate. We've got one Brit, one half English half Kiwi, one Italian, one from Singapore and one Ozzie. We've been getting along really well so far. I can tell it's going to be a fun semester.
I've also been looking for a job since I've gotten here, to no avail. My ding count is around 80 so far. The job market here is tough, there's a lot of people looking for work it seems. A lot of it is probably due to being international, there's a very large international population in Melbourne and they're all looking for work, and and a resident will get a job over a non-resident every time.
Since I've been cooking a lot more, I'm really fortunate to be living next to Vic Market. Great place for produce. I've been coming here a lot.

Queen Victoria Market. Tons of cheap veg, fruit, meat and fish from local farmers and butchers.
Here are some other random shots from around the city.

One part of Melbourne Uni. Beautiful campus and right down the road from me.

A homeless person drawing on the sidewalk. Pretty common actually. Some of these are just amazing.
